Because of “dramatic” events in previous episode Chizuru wasn’t able to meet her weekly quota in molesting Kouta. What better moment to catch up than New Year?
Yep, this episode has insane amount of fanservice, enough to make up for good three of four drama episodes (let alone for single half-drama one, because at [...]

[ BLEACH #170]
Yet another nice episode. This arc is setting a really nice pace that’s pretty different from the Hueco Mundo arc. Granted it’s probably because a lot of the action has yet to start, I still feel as though this is giving off an atmosphere similar to that of the first Bleach movie. That [...]

One of the trends that I’ve noticed in my anime watching to-date is how a lot of the recent shows have male characters who aren’t afraid of expressing their more feminine side.
Even the skilled warrior Thobari-sensei of Nabari no Ou isn’t afraid to show off his shoujo sparkles every now and again.
And maybe it’s very [...]

This episode mostly introduces Ren, Lala’s childhood friend who she used to always make fun of for being a crybaby. Ren goes on a journey of sorts to become more manly to win over Lala due to a “promise” that was made back when they were children.
I wasn’t really impressed with this episode really. Too [...]

Do CLAMP really need any introduction? Well, a bit of info for those new to the scene
Clamp started life as a twelve man *cough*woman*cough* dojinshi group. Though it shrunk down to seven in 1990. They have a wide ranging stack of titles under their belt, and almost all of them have subsequently [...]

Old Fart Who Loves Japanese Pop Culture
05/17/2008 01:18 PM EDTLast Friends ラスト・フレンズ Ep5 Screen Shots >>
The episode begins where the last episode left off, Michiru played by Nagasawa Masami (Proposal Daisakusen, Sailor Fuku to Kikanju) finds Sosuke played by Nishikido Ryo (Attention Please, Ganbatte Ikimasshoi) crouched down after waiting outside the apartment all night in the rain. She hugs him while Ruka played by Ueno Juri (Nodame Cantabile, Jodan ja nai!) watches from the house. Takeru played by Eita (Atsu-hime, Orange Days) asks Ruka where Michiru is, just as Michiru calls Ruka’s cell lying to her saying that she’s on the way to the hairdressers when in fact she’s taking the soaked Sosuke to his apartment, but promising to come back soon. Ruka repeats the lie to Eri played by Mizukawa Asami (Iryu, Pride) and Takeru. At the apartment Michiru has the fevered Sosuke in bed, and cooks for him. He asks her not to leave promising not to hit her again. She tells him she can’t but if he can become patient and not act like a stalker, someday she’ll return to him. Then she goes to the beauty salon and apologizes to the manager asking for her job back.I was pleasantly surprised that Michiru didn’t move back in with Sosuke as the beginning of this episode, after the teaser at the end of the last episode I thought she’d be back into his apartment and another cycle of domestic abuse would begin. Another thing I liked about this episode is that all the characters got more development while the oppressive Sosuke languished in bed we learned quite a bit more about most of the supporting characters.Download the Raw video from the bit torrent tracker here; English soft subs can be downloaded here. Got wind of this seminar, organized by the Creative Industries Observatory, via Anime Infatuation, and popped by Strand Poly yesterday. A quick rundown of my main takeaways and reflections of the presentations.
Extract from Andrew Osmond’s abstract: ‘In American and Britain, Japanese animation has often been presented as something completely different from “cartoons”; darker, more adult [...]

From the New York Times:
After years of fretting over coming shortages, the country is actually facing a dwindling number of young people entering engineering and technology-related fields.
Universities call it “rikei banare,” or “flight from science.” The decline is growing so drastic that industry has begun advertising campaigns intended to make engineering look sexy and cool, [...]
