The full list of guests coming to the 2010 New York Anime Festival (NYAF) has been released.  As mentioned in a previous post, Yuki Nagato’s seiyuu Minori Chihara will be attending this year, but fans of the English dubs will be glad to know that Crispin Freeman (Kyon’s voice), Stephanie Sheh (Mikuru’s voice), and Christina Vee (Haruhi in the ASOS Brigade) will also be attending.  The NYAF occurs from October 8 – 10, 2010. We’ve got confirmation of the DVD and BluRay release date of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie from several Japanese websites. As long as Bandai doesn’t run into another “processing error” like the did with the second season English DVDs, Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoshitsu will be hitting shelves (in Japan at least) on December 18th — just in time for Christmas. Odd Haruhi news of the month comes in the form of this video: So you’re probably wondering what that was about. The guy in the video is Minoru Shiraishi, who voices Taniguchi in the Melancholy Haruhi Suzumiya. These shorts of Minoru getting lost in a mountainous forest are apparently DVD bonus features released along with limited edition DVDs released in Japan in 2009. This neat website was recently sent in through the Haruhi Tracker. The site owner, undoubtly a hero amongst Haruhi fans, has travelled to the various locations in Japan that were scouted out by Kyoto Animation to be used in scenes for the Haruhi Suzumiya anime.  The site owner has also conveniently labelled which episode(s)/event(s) each location was used for.  There are also location photo hunts the Haruhi Suzumiya movie, as well as a large collection of galleries for locations used in other animes (Clannad, Lucky Star, and more!) A member of our forums (Ansem’s Way) recently attended the Japan Expo in Paris, France where Kadokawa Pictures was hosting a booth showcasing sketch artwork and key animation cels from the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie.  He was able to snap a bundle of photos to share with us, view them below.  None of the animation cels or sketches were for sale at the showcase.  Unfortunately, no new news of the DVD release date of the movie outside Japan was announced at Japan Expo.

A recent documentary on BBC 3 (a British television channel) featured Beckii Cruel (Rebecca Flint), a 14-year-old girl from the Isle of Man who has become an Internet celebrity and popstar in Japan. Beckii became famous after posting posting videos of herself dancing to J-pop using her own choreography. She did this secretly, without telling her parents. Bandai recently hosted an anime panel at Otakon 2010 (July 30-Aug 1) in Baltimore, Maryland where they released information about the second season of Haruhi Suzumiya DVD, the Dissapearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie, along with other Bandai licenses including Gurren Lagann, K-ON! and Gundam Unicorn. Just a heads up to all those who are lucky enough to be attending the 2010 Comic-Con in San Diego this year.  As announced by the ASOS Brigade on their facebook page, there will be a Haruhi Season 2 English Convention Premiere on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the Con (that’s July 22-24) and it will take place at 5pm each day at the Marriott Hall: Room 5. Looks like East Coast Haruhi fans will finally get their wish fulfilled and then some. Bandai is having a screening of the film “The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya” at the New York Anime Fest (October 8-10) and the film will be introduced by none other than Yuki Nagato’s voice actress, Minori Chihara.
