What with E3 come and gone showing off the lastest games and such, I’d thought it’d be nice to look at some classics… well, one for now anyway. This one’s a lot older than my previous two entries. Waaaaay back in 1993, Sierra (best known for King’s Quest or Leisure Suit Larry) brought out a game for their ‘Discovery Series’. The series is particular focuses on edutainment, a genre of gaming that mixes learning with entertainment. Edutainment titles were something like… the Super Solver series. For something branded as edutainment (and it has indeed heaped a good helping of facts about its source material), it has a very healthy dose of old school adventuring in it and fans of such a genre will not be disappointed with its challenges. The Story Pepper’s Adventures is a point & click adventure game that took place in Philadelphia in 1764 featuring a feisty tomboy named Pepper and her ever-grinning dog Lockjaw. Pepper along with Lockjaw spies her uncle doing no good… in this case attempting to alter history by zapping out Ben Franklin in an attempt to turn America into an extension of dear ol’ Blighty. Naturally, Pepper and Lockjaw is caught up in her uncle’s schemes as they accidentally interrupt the proceedings causing her uncle to lose his marbles (what’s left of it) and send the duo back in time to that period. Once in the past, Pepper is separated from Lockjaw through a series of unfortunate events and finds herself trapped in a town gone mad through ...
