File 1 Shiori and Shimiko & Jack and Emily It’s night and a girl is chased and then brutally murdered she manages to scratch the neck of the slasher just before she falls dead her blood splattering the wall and a book she’d been carrying. The scene switches, Shimiko played by Maeda Atsuko (Swan no Baka, AKB48) is walking with a map in one hand and pulling her luggage with the other, while carrying on a monologue that explains that she’s moving in with her uncle whom she’s never met, into his bookstore, because her parents have suddenly moved abroad. She picks up a flyer that’s blown against her foot; it’s about a missing girl, then she walks into a park. In the park a girl, Shiori played by Minamisawa Nao (1 Pound no Fukuin, Seito Shokun) is digging, a younger girl begins to help wondering what they’ll find. Shiori finds a hand and while the little girl runs away in fear, pulls it up to reveal the missing girl. Shiori declares it to be an unsolved murder and swears to solve it. She reasons that because the murderer always returns to the scene of the crime, the murderer must be present in the park right now.Nice opening episode in this comedy horror mystery drama, I’ve been hoping to see another drama fill the slot left by RH Plus, the sometimes comedy vampire series from last season. This series fits the bill, two school girls replace the school boy vampires and if this episode is any indication it’ll be even more bizarre then RH was. Also starring in the drama as Shimiko’s uncle Hashimoto Jun (Mirai Koshi Meguru, Tokkyu Tanaka San Go) and Inoue Jun (Attention Please, Unfair) as Dan Sensei. I’d recommend this first episode to fans of surreal mysteries like Mop Girl.Download the English hardsub by I@F fansubs from the tracker here.
