Hikikomori-chan
.Introduction:I don’t read a lot of manga. Well, I thought I did until I realized that my reading list is nothing but a small slice of what was out there. Unless it’s the old stuff since I took a break from manga-reading and anime-watching between 2002 til 2006, I’m totally clueless about the stuff that have been coming out of the woodwork. Also, more often than not, the mangas I pick up are a result of my liking a specific anime. So most of the time, I pick up anime based only on reading a synopsis I read on Wiki or ANN then I just hope of the best. For the last couple of seasons, I just pick up everything and just judge it for myself if it's worth investing 12-26 weeks of my life on.Review of Related Literature: Anyway, I was going through Baka-Raptor’s blog sometime last week and saw his Ultimate Guide to Picking Summer Anime. I figured since (I don't have a life) I almost always watch everything that premieres because (I have no life) I don’t want to miss out on the good ones, I thought I would give it a go. Anyway, since I promised to let him know the results, here is my half-time report.Scope and Limitation / Definition of Terms:So yeah, there were certain conditions that were made when I made my “Personal Decision” whether to watch or not.Everything under the column Baka-Raptor’s Guide is taken from his own conclusions that were posted on his blog. For anime that are not in his list (marked with asterisks), I answered them personally. Answers to questions like “Is it stupid?”, “Really stupid?” and “Did it suck?” are totally subjective based on Baka-Raptor’s instructions.A “Maybe” is considered a “Yes” and is subject to change when the final decision is made – usually done after episode 2 or 3 of a certain title.Assuming I have an actual life, whenever posed with the question “Am I bored?” I will always put in “No.”The anime included in the list are everything that was listed in Fansub Wiki with the exception of movies and 1-episode shows (i.e. Detroit Metal City, Gurren Lagann Parallel Works, Kiku-chan to Ookami and that Lupin movie)Akiba-chan and RoboDZ is an automatic “Don’t Watch.” Come on, I already watched the first episode of Scarecrowman! I wouldn’t touch those two titles even if they were made of gold… if they were made of diamonds then I would re-consider.Antique Bakery is omitted from this list because it has been automatically placed in my list of to watch.ResultsFindings I think there is still something missing in the flowchart that Baka-Raptor made and certain modification/s still need/s to be made, but I can’t put my finger on it yet.But I can already say that more testers are necessary to draw a reasonable conclusion as to the effectiveness of this guide.Crud it… I’m not sure I still want to continue since the only things that are remaining are tagged as “Don’t Watch”. While my inner anime fan says “No more, bitch! You sat through Great Guardians and the first five minutes of Sekirei already!!!” The inner researcher and reports analyst in me shouted that in the interest of proving or disproving gaits me to continue since the report generation is auto-computed already. This season sucks. So far, I have watched 12 anime (as I mentioned, Akiba-chan and RoboDZ dunt count) and with that, the on-going effectiveness rate of Baka-Raptor’s Guide is 92.86%Baka-Raptor eats pie. With what's left... the overall effectiveness is 82.75%ConclusionBaka-Raptor should stop putting up filler posts and start blogging about anime again..
