Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger 9 I guess I was so late watching episode 8 that I’m doing 2 Ippo posts in a row! But that’s cool, since I’m also marathoning season 1 at the same time so Ippo is basically my life. Haha. Ha. That being said, this episode kind of bummed me out. We get a new character - Itagaki, a talented young amateur who wants to turn pro and joins the Kamogawa Gym because he looks up to Ippo. And we get an old character - Ippo’s former kohai at Kamogawa, the little puking Geromichi who has reinvented himself as a bald bruiser called “Hammer Nao” and is now challenging Ippo for the Japanese title. Itagaki is a little bit obnoxious as the new guy but I’m sure I’ll grow to like him. Geromichi on the other hand seems to be a real scary mofo and I hated all the scenes he was in. It seems like he’s going to take advantage of Ippo’s weakness - being way too much of a nice guy. It looks like Ippo’s going to have trouble punching his old puking friend. ~sniffle~ Gambatte, uchi no Ippo-kun! P.S. I chose this flashback screenshot for the sole reason that Ippo looks weirdly hunky in it. You got a problem with that?
