Although I was not able to find the IP that Zyl mentioned, I went ahead and put it into my Cpanel's IP Deny Manager anyway.  I also added bakaserv.com, which resolved to 76.162.58.250, which was the IP that came up during a whois search.

I don't like to ban IPs for a long time, but if enough people banned this IP for a few weeks, it might at least help to annoy Tubeless.  What kind of ads are they running now, so that the ad company can be contacted and asked to remove Tubeless as a member?

On the most recent iteration of Tubeless, they've changed the "Original Post By" text.  Although the link does still go to the original poster's site, the text says that it's originally posted by Bakaserv, which is quite misleading.

For now, I'm trying the IP block, and waiting to see if our latest post gets scraped.

Here is the bastard: http://www.technorati.com/people/technorati/KuroData/

I have asked Technorati to remove his blog.  Perhaps if some others complained, that might help.

I have not figured out yet how to stop his advertising dollars, although his sidebar is generated from a site called rssground.com (basically a scraper service).

Hmmm. So if they're using this xml-rpc thing to scrape posts, I dunno if I can forward them to the badrss thing I made. Worth a shot, still, I guess.

Banning the IPs did not stop Tubeless from grabbing our latest Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann post.  I suspect he is switching around his various scrapers, since it seems he has a bit of downtime, and then comes back after a little while.

I've made a complaint to Technorati too. The other advertisers on his site look pretty used-car-salesmen-like and certainly no information about how to make complaints.

Tubeless managed to pick up Stripey's latest post on the F/SN Visual book despite the IP banning. Can't seem to find the new IP from my latest visitors stats and don't have time to go through the raw logs. Strangely enough, Tubeless didn't pick up my test / off-topic post (which I've since removed).

Another new scraper around. I just got one from "Talkutopia.com". Suggest you guys watch out for it.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Just be happy that you got a free backlink ;)

I wouldn't really be happy about being scraped and having a backlink with the text saying that the scraper made the original article.

Anyways, looks like Tubeless has moved on to scraping video game sites...

Those scraper sites have unbelievable low TrustRank. They will never show up in the SERPs and they won't affect your ranking in a negative way.

Unless it's an act of plagarizing, claiming the entry as his/her own write-up, or not citing where the original came from, that's where people like myself get miffed.

BTW, I'm also one of this Tubeless' "victims".
