I'm really new to this figure thingy so have a few questions for veterans out there.

Is there such a thing as optimal size for figures? In my 3 short passionate months for figures, I've tentatively concluded that 1/8 seems to be the optimal size in terms of aesthetic beauty and price. 1/6s not only suffer from a premium pricing, the detailing and facial sculpts for most of them seem lacking too. I hear of balancing/leaning problems with 1/6s since they are bigger/heavier.

As for sizes below 1/8, the facial features usually suffer since they have to constrict the eyes and may leave out critical facial/eyes details. That's the reason I avoid gashaphons/trading figures.

 Thoughts anyone? :)

Alter TYPE-MOON TFs.

Also, it depends on the company. Alter rarely screws up.

I'll leave the discussion to tj_han.

Maybe that's cos most of Alter's products are 1/8s? I've read their 1/6 swimsuit Rin and Sakura have leaning problems too.

I think 1/7 scale is perfect for me. It gets a substantial feel on my shelf without being too big, but it isn't as obscured by all my gasha like 1/8 scale figures are. I A nice balance!

1/8s are the best by far. Not too bulky and heavy.

There's not much to discuss actually since we just buy what comes out and is affordable.

My biggest gripe about 1/6s are it's out-of-placeness when displayed along the masses of 1/8 figurines. For example, Clayz Saber. She's like.. Yao Ming when displayed alongside my other figurines and that is totally disgusting.

How about 1/1 scale figures? I want this one.

I actually saw 1/1 Keroro in a store. Quite amazing but also really creepy. When I got a cushy job in the future (I MUST), I'll buy a few 1/1 scaled mannequins of my favourite girls.

digiwombat: 1/7s are nice too. :) They are my upper size limit for figures. And as you say, my 1/7 Kotobukiya goth-loli Asuka sits right at home with 1/8 Aisia on my shelf.

tjhan: Ah that's exactly what I mean. But it's not stopping you from getting future 1/6s?

I do have 1/6s. In fact, I had 2 but I sold one. And there are two 1/7s coming my way.

I'd like a 10/1 (does that make sense) version of Ebichu, a giant Ebichu to ward off evil and answer my telephone calls for me. *Chu!*

Everytime I close my bedroom door my Mai Hime figures fall over, I have tried blutac but they still fall over ><.

I want someone to invent floating hollogram ones that talk *^_^*

Erm where are your figures? On your door?

But seriously, it is probably due to one or two factors.

Air Pressure/force. Closing your door generates a vacuum effect and that sucks things towards it.. Or not. I can't explain this well though. Or maybe the door is a giant fan that creates a minicyclone when you close it.

Shockwave. The door hitting its frame creates a shockwave that's transmitted through the walls onto your shelves.

Try laying them on their backs. Then they won't fall over. Seriously, this works.

~.~ Actually all you need to do is invest a little and get those gashapon display boxes. Then they won't fall unless you shake the box.

I have those. They suck. Seriously. Nothing beats custom made shelves, but IKEA ones come close.
