I was wondering about your personal motives for blogging.
I mean the time you spend on blogging could be used for various other things.

Do you blog for money? For fame? Is it a modern form of a diary?
Or do you seek discussions and contacs with people all over the world who share the same hobby as you?
Does the "blogosphere" compensate the lack of really good anime (community) sites?

And who started it all? Random Curiosity? At least he always seems to get the most comments...

I blog because my posts entertain my friends. And I like being a part of this community.

The one who started it all?  JASON MIAO.

I blog for fame. Or money, or because I like it.

Random Curiosity didn't start it all, though he is pretty darn big.

I used to really like jascii, though sadly it looks like the archives are now down. Jeff Lawson is a Real American Hero as well.

Simply, because I like to rant about anime. I don't want to annoy people in real life, so I do it on the web.

Before I was a blogger I read blogs myself and realized, hey, if I like to read other people's rants about anime, then maybe some people would want to read mine. It's been working so far.

I blog because it amuses and entertains me.

I'm not sure who started it though.  I used to like jascii too, but I die for Momotato.  He cracks me up.  I wish he'd still update.  I remember liking Radical Bender too.  Oh, I miss David's Naruto posts.  He makes it sound intelligent.  Seriously.

i blog because momotato stopped doing it, and i use it to tease him.

actually more because i spend way too much time watching anime and thinking about anime, it is kind of a waste to just let it expire in my brain.

Originally I started blogging to show my friends the anime merchandise I bought, but I expanded on that and I'm at where I am now.

Also since I'm not in full time work at the moment, this is a nice time killer until so.

Omni (Random Curiousity) definitely wasn't "the" one who started it all.  The blog is probably the most popular and well known yes, but not the first.  I think as others have said, Momotato, Jascii, David, and Matthew were some of the first... at least for me.

Why I blog?  Simple: e-penis largement (aka ego boosting) ;)

I blog because I have ideas and "crazy mind connections" that I want to express and get out into the world and see if other people care enough to read about them. Even if people don't read what I write, I feel good getting them off my chest. It also makes me feel like a low-budget freelance journalist...except without the pay.

I want to be the Bill Gates of anime.

Or not. It's a place to display my hard-earned anime-warezzz.

This sounds corny, but to meet more like minded people.

Haha I was bored and got nothing to do and found this thread.

I put up my blog so that I could show my friends what I was watching at that time, and then maybe convince them to pick up that series too.

It didn't work so it ended up as a place where I post my reviews and do my ranting.

One bonus for me was that I could practice my English writing lol.

i blog because

1. Meet people who like anime and discuss because I am bored stiff at school without people knowing anything about it.

2. Attention seeking being who likes people to comment and have fun

3. Blogging as a form of destress. I destress by writing, so it's a good way.

4. Also, a more noble reason is to provide more courage for anime that is less well known.

Me? Eh, well, for fun, laughter peace and joy...ok, that's stupid.

Lack of anything else to do with the my anime-liking attitude. And also to look around and get into anime communities of like-minded people. In anycase, anime watchers tend to be pretty interesting. Better than some people around me...
