For fun and to generate discussion. Nothing makes me happier than to see a discussion burst out in my comment section (kind of like in a forum), even if I'm not actively participating. It's also a way to participate and contribute to the anime viewing community, and sometimes that's hard when you have to split your thoughts amongst 100 comments on various other blogs.
Forums > Off Topic > Why do you blog
<< 1 2Originally? To fangirl. The anime blogging community used to intimidate me so I used to stay away from doing reviews. I still fangirl but now, I digress with some (mainly manga) reviews, too ^^
I think e-penis enlargement has a large part to do with it, but meeting like minded people and starting discussions is also nice.
It's also a nice place to put your thoughts that you want to share with people. And the opportunity to practice English writing doesn't hurt. ^^
Well, this is a rather interesting topic. Why blog?
So, why? Simply because (taking excerpts from my About page; emphases mine):
Being an anime fan, I always have that desire to share my interest with the rest of the world. Problem is, if you’re in a country that shows anime (most are in the comedy genre) at a Saturday morning bloc (most kids are watching at this time), the first reaction they’ll show is that it’s a cartoon. You show them some of the more recent titles, and the reaction will be just the same. I plan to change that.
Though I’m not as prolific as other anime bloggers in keeping track of the latest anime series, retelling them episode-by-episode, I’ll try at least to provide you readers with my personal opinions of some of the series out there.
Why do I blog?
To have a reason to cut class and to have fun.
Blogging has made a profit though... I'm a writer at a local newspaper now for the anime/manga section and they found me through my blog.
@kurogane: lol, so did you indicate that you wrote for a "blog about anime"? or does the local newspaper staff have rules regarding blogs "outside of work"?
Because it's fun. I need some place to rant and share my lists (it's a hobby), and none of my friends are going to respond when I tell them, so at least I've put the option up for discussion. And I like hunting for images to use at the beginning of entries.
