A man, Ugumura Shoji has hacked into an elevator control, when the company president enters the car, Ugumura seizes control, causing it first to ascend at a frightening rate then drop even faster pinning the occupants to the ceiling. He then notifies the building security, telling them to follow his directions or the president will be killed. The scene shifts to a car speeding through a tunnel, the driver Takimoto Sousuke is identified as an Under Anchor Agent. Sousuke appears to be talking on his cellphone about a girl, but then he arrives at the scene advising another agent Asano Touko of his arrival, promising to finish the job within five minutes. Another agent, Mimasaka Chigusa agrees with this acessment saying “He usually finishes in five minutes.” But then adds that she doesn’t like the way he seems to be playing around. Sousuke surprises Ugumura and when Ugumura threatens to drop the elevator Sousuke tosses his cellphone towards the computer and tackles the man. The cellphone transforms, adding arms and legs and hacks into the computer system. What a terrific opening episode, as expected from the series supervisor Miike Takashi (Ichi the Killer, The Great Yokai War), and according to the dramawiki some of the directors lined up to work on the 51 episode series are Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell), Shusuke Kaneko (Death Note) and Manabu Aso (One Missed Call: Final). I loved this opener which ran for around 45 minutes, but I believe the other episodes will be shorter fitting in a 30 minute time slot. The cellphones name is Phonebraver 7 which made me think of Bamboo Blade immediately, especially when Sousuke says they’re both there for human safety and peace. If the products that the Japanese have given us prove one thing it’s they are masters of miniaturization, so this concept actually seems closer to reality then the giant robots seen in so many other shows. I’d highly recommend this show to fans of tokusatsu like Garo, Kamen Rider Kabuto or anime like Ghost in the Shell or the movie Hackers.Download the first episode English hardsub release by Order of Zeronos fansub group here.
