I got a good laugh the other day while watching an episode of Comedy Central's The Daily Show. During the "Moments of Zen" compilation of coverage of the two political conventions, British comedian John Oliver tried to walk into the BBC's preparation room, despite not having an official pass. "I'm British," he said, with his proper accent, "and you don't need a credential to be British. My voice is my credential." It was extra amusing to me because I'd done a very similar thing in Japan. A decade or so ago, they held an international speed-skating competition in my prefecture, so I decided to go check it out. As I went to find my seats in the bleachers, I happened to notice a door for coaches and other VIPs, most of whom were from the U.S. or Europe, and on a hunch I wondered if I could get into that room just by being American. The Japanese person watching the door didn't want to let me in at first, but the right mixture of appearing to be in a hurry and speaking English at him rapidly got the job done, and I got to enjoy the skating competition while helping myself to beers and munchies. A side attraction to the GCA is the Cos-Con, one of the many smaller cosplaying events here in Singapore. Few years back, you won't even see something like this at the WCG or the GCA, but recently its becoming more and more popular, almost like its routine. A step in the right direction?Are you the droid we are looking for?At the scene were the guys from the 501st Battalion, Singapore's local force of Stormtroopers. Promoting the latest game from Lucas Arts, "The Force Unleashed", they were a big draw, as expected of anything Star Wars. Of course, the grunts are always the first to die. >.< One shot, one killWe also had a Blood Elf, plus an Orc from Warcraft and a Knight Templar from Hellgate Lomdon London. Didn't take any pictures of them through. The Orc and the Kngiht Templar was very well done, IMO. The Orc was so huge he couldn't move without help, lol.Here we have an Eureka Seven cosplayer promoting an online trading card game. She seems quite surprised when I recognized her from Eureka Seven through...Apparently, people thought that she's just dressing up as an ingame character. Gameplay reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh. You are (not) aloneThe ever popular Eva series. Rei did a good job of protraying the "expressionless"-ness of Rei. Did that sound right? Asuka came down later, but I didn't get a shot of her.Um....Right. Like I'm going to believe that...Stop maphacking TF, Spy. The ever popular Vampire Knight cosplayers, and the same Suigintou from Matsuri. Its almost a given that you would see Vampire Knight, Naruto, D.Gray Man and Bleach cosplayers at any cosplay event. They are so numberous, they are like part of the background, no offense to any cosplayers from the above few series. :P     Why aren't your breasts the same size???Death the Kid plus the Thompson sisters. One of the better Soul Eater cosplayers here I've seen. Black*Star and Tsubaki were there too, but I failed to take any shots of them. No Maka and Soul through - a real pity.Turning round a corner on my way back, I stumbled upon something I shouldn't have...Gah! No, not a Spider-Head?!No, keep it away!!!
