Right now I feel like I'm at a wrong place, doing a wrong thing at a wrong time: Right now it's already February, the second month of a year, and here I am, trying to write an article about my resolutions of the year. I am sure some of you would think, "Hey, if you had wanted to post your resolutions of a year, shouldn't you do that at the start of the year like most people do?". Well, I have a reasonable excuse: I was busy with application the for college at the end of the year 2009 while in January at the start of the year 2010 I was busy settling down at a whole new environment here in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. As you can see, my life had changed 180 degree - I'm now a college student who is trying to earn his degree. (pardon the pun) :DAs I have did in my previous yearly resolutions, I would now hand down a verdict for the resolution I had given myself last year... no wait, I made no resolutions last year. >_>;;In that case, I'll just review the resolution I had made for the year 2008... and see whether I had managed to complete them within the past two years.Resolution #1: Attend HobbyConI attended Hobbycon last year, and even though I was only there for less than 2 hours, but I guess it's still a pass. :DVerdict: PASSResolution #2: Cosplay an anime character</a>I actually did some research online on the costumes but in the end I didn't order any of them. Therefore in the end, I didn't cosplay.(but for once I was glad I didn't. Hmmm. That's going to be hard, considering the fact that I have to download them through direct download - the wifi here at the place where I stay seem to block all torrents from working.Resolution #3: Pass all subjects this yearAs long as I pass all subject in college I'll be safe from any trouble.Resolution #4: Save lots of moneyThe other day I had bought two tokens for a gachapon over at a stall at Mid-Valley (from which I got a Mikuru keychain), even though I am on a really tight budget. Here's what I am going to do: save money every month. By the end of the month I'll have some money left, and if so, I can spend it on some anime stuffs. You know the other day I was in Borders I saw the "Welcome to the NHK novel" and I had wanted to buy it......Resolution #5: Finish at least 3 visual vovels by the end of the yearThis seems pretty simple to achieve... all I have to do is to make the right choice and read. XDThat's it for now. Lastly, although it's already February, Yamaki's Anime Blog would like to wish all its readers a happy new year. Oh and, 'Gong Xi fa Cai' to those who celebrate Chinese New Year too. May we have a prosperous year ahead... for being an otaku is not a cheap hobby.

Some surprising (and not so surprising) news has been popping up recently- The new collaboration between Ikki Tousen Xtreme Xecutor and Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Tairan looks pretty interesting- and it really makes all the sense in the world. So far, it only seems to mean that the two series are sharing the same website (PVs for both series are up), but it'll be interesting to see if anything else comes out of it. (What if more titles tried cross promotions with other, similar titles? Aoi Hana season 2/Marimite? Octave/White Album- or any other music-related romance title about disaffected young adults? Kuroshitsuji/Hayate the Combat Butler?) Plus, a new character trailer for Working!! is up, focusing on Kyouko the manager. (Which means a blink-and-you'll-miss-it flash of crushiness from Yachiyo.) And thanks for voting in last week's polls, if you voted. ^^ Just to preserve the results after I remove the polls from the sidebar, I'm putting the results below.  Money makes the world go round, the world go round, the world go round... We Are One Piece Anime!anime! offers up some word on Oricon's 2009 manga sales chart, and the top series-- to no one's surprise! --was Eiichirou Oda's One Piece, and subsequently its publisher, Shueisha. One Piece sold over 14 million books last year in Japan-- and can you believe we can't even get the anime adaptation to stay on North American TV? Second and third place for individual titles were, of course, Naruto (6.83 million) and Bleach (6.47 million), in that order. The entire manga industry in Japan, according to these charts, was 1.156 trillion yen ($12.85 billion USD). By contrast, ComiChron guesses the overall North American comics market to be $680-710 million for 2008 (the 2009 estimate isn't available yet-- but note that it's based entirely on Diamond sales alone). Whew. Of the publishers, Shueisha-- who publish One Piece, Naruto, AND Bleach, topped the company charts; Kodansha followed behind with big names like Saint Oniisan and Fairy Tail, and Shogakukan (Rinne, Hayate no Gotoku, Detective Conan) placed in third. After them came Square Enix (Fullmetal Alchemist), Kadokawa (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), and Hakusensha (Vampire Knight) in fourth, fifth, and sixth. Interesting stuff, but nothing too surprising. I still can't believe Saint Oniisan hasn't been licensed for North America yet, either!
