This would be no longer legal. Many famous manga creators have signed the petition against proposed law that would ban any slightly erotic depiction of 2D characters who would be or appear to be younger than 18 years old. A group of mangaka went to the Tokyo Governmental Office to present their petition against the speculated measure. The list contained names of many famous mangaka.Fujiko Fujio ATakao SaitoJuzo YamasakiKenichi KitamiMitsuru AdachiRumiko TakahashiGosho AoyamaMoto HagioMichiyo AkaishiWakuni AkisatoHiroshi MotomiyaMakoto OginoBig Joe Takeshi ŌmiUzuki NakamuraYudetamagoTakashi SanoTetsuya ChibaKenshi HirokaneKaiji KawaguchiMakoto KobayashiTakeshi MaekawaHiroki YagamiKen AkamatsuTohru FujisawaKazuki YamamotoKanji SorasakiNaoki SerizawaTetsuya KoshibaUchū NishikawaWaki YamatoJun FukamiMariko NakamuraNami AkimotoYasuyuki Kunitomo Ryohei SaiganJun HayaseSatosumi TakaguchiKaworu WatashiyaMasako WatanabeKeisuke ItagakiKenji HamaokaYoshikazu YasuhikoTakayuki Yamaguchi Yoshiaki TabataYousuke TakahashiAkihito YoshitomiYūki YogoYasuhiro ImagawaYasunari TodaKenetsu SatouHiroyuki YoshinoMasahiro ItosugiKenji YamamotoKoban SamedaMakoto UezuShigeru MoritaHiraku KanekoMunenori NawaManga, anime, and game industry is facing a big jeopardy that calls for some defensive counter-attacks. This petition is indeed a reasonable way to stand up against the proposed measure. If the new legislation passed, it would seriously harm a big part of Japanese pop-culture, and young characters in anime and manga would be no more. I really don't want to see that happen.I find it very preposterous to spend time and money on such senseless regulations that won't help anyone. On the contrary, masses of people would be very displeased by it and it will most likely have a negative effect on Japanese economy as well. Anime, manga, and games related goods bring a lot of money to Japan and if pop-culture companies had to stop doing what they've been doing up to now, the consequences might be unexpectedly large and inflict damage to Japanese economy, which hardly is in a position where it could afford saying goodbye to any profit possibilities.I hope common sense prevails in the end; we must believe this senseless idea will be crushed and washed away and will fall into oblivion for good.
