Otaben: Oh SNET, Gurren Lagann on SciFi (And CLANNAD is licensed)

I can be so slow sometimes. I basically just stumbled upon the fact that SciFi Channel is airing Gurren Lagann on Monday nights. I've never actually seen the dub. Is it worth watching?

Also, some version of other of CLANNAD has been licensed by ADV. This is hardly surprising, seeing as they already picked up AIR and Kanon. Seeing as Greg Ayers confirmed the license, there's a pretty good chance

Just moé: Clannad is Licensed

On the confusion whether ADV required the license of the movie or the 2 series of this anime…

ADV films, as we all know, obtain to license anime project based on Visual Art’s/Key adaptation novel franchise of Kyoto Animation works like Air, Kanon, and other novel based adaptation like Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (MoHS).
The movie was animated by Toei, [...]

a geek by any other name: ADV Awakes from Hibernation, Has Clannad?

Wow, definitely missed this in all the NYAF hype: Nebs reports via the Fanboy Review that ADV has acquired the rights to Clannad, despite losing the rights to both Air and Kanon (which are also based on eroge created by Key).
Since Fanboy didn’t offer a source (*ahem*) I’ve got an e-mail out to ADV reps [...]

Memento: Code Geass R2 ep.24

In this episode, Nunnally tries to smoke some bong but fails miserably when said bong got knocked out of her hands. She spends the majority of the episode on the ground looking for the bong. There's a lesson here: doing drugs does not pay. One has to admire Sunrise for being able to include an anti-drug message on top of the political shenanigans that this show has on offers. We also find out that not only Cornelia didn't die on last week's episode, she finds herself wake up next to dark-haired Guilford. Guilford is a proof that you can survive a nuclear warhead barely unscathed. One would think that Guilford should at least look like Two-Face by now but apart from his eyes (which will probably heal in the final episode), his skin is perfectly fine. So next time there's a warhead coming your way, according to Sunrise you'll be a-okay. Another important lesson that Sunrise teach us is that if you hate your brother, don't kill him. Instead, make him your bitch. And oh, Diethard dies like a nobody that he is while Kanon looks like he's been raped by someone whose name is not Schneizel.

T.H.A.T anime blog: [LWC 63] Curmudgeon Be Not?

Clap for Clannad
↩[LWC 62]
Recently disseminating upon my much overdue backlog of shows to watch from which I mightily digressed came yet another companion to the beloved Kanon. Yes, that would be correct - I Rewatched Clannad. And if unnecessary capitalization is not annoying enough, I enjoyed Clannad, Again - or perhaps even more so [...]

クロス† チャネル Anime, manga, video games and other related things.: Ayu versus Shana… Shana WINS

In my quest to find popular anime snack foods, I came across a place that sold Taiyaki. If you need a reminder it is that food Ayu from Kanon likes to eat that is in the shape of a fish with the sweet bean paste inside. I would say that the outside tasted delicious but [...]

Old Fart Who Loves Japanese Pop Culture: Maki Horikita's "Innocent Love"

Sent to you by kevn57 via Google Reader: Maki Horikita's "Innocent Love" via Tokyograph on 8/19/08 Popular actress Maki Horikita has picked up her next lead drama role. She will star in the tentatively-titled "Innocent Love," scheduled to air in Fuji TV's flagship Monday night time slot this fall. As the title suggests, the show will be a romance story. The script is an original work written by Taeko Asano, whose most recent hit was "Last Friends" this past spring. Like that show, "Innocent Love" will focus on the lives of modern youths. The shows also share a director (Yusuke Kato) and a producer (Toshiyuki Nakano). The story centers around the tragic heroine Kanon Akiyama (Horikita). As a child, she lost both her parents to a murderer, and her older brother was arrested as the prime suspect. Shunned by her town as the sister of a killer, she heads to Tokyo and picks up a job as a housecleaner. There, she has a fateful encounter with a man, but the road to romance is fraught with difficulty. This will be Horikita's first time starring in Fuji TV's key time slot. Last year, her popularity skyrocketed due to a starring role in "Hanazakari no Kimitachi e." Currently, she appears in the NHK taiga drama "Atsuhime." That series doesn't finish filming until the end of September, so she will briefly be shooting simultaneously for "Atsuhime" and "Innocent Love.""Innocent Love" will premiere in October.
