You all are probably aware of Ultimo , Stan Lee's collaboration with Shaman King mangaka Hiroyuki Takei that's being published in both Japan and in the US currently. But how many of you remember Heroman , Stan Lee's anime project with the studio BONES that was announced back in April of 2008 ? The latest news comes from Studio Wanpack, who confirmed that they have done key drawings for a twelfth episode of Heroman just last month . As far as I'm aware this is the first that we have heard on the project since its original announcement in Newtype, although I did ask Lee about it at San Diego Comic Con 2008 (he didn't have much to say). That said, this isn't unusual-- it takes an anime quite some time to get put together, especially a highly-anticipated one. Still, if the 12th episode is in the key frames stage, we might hope to see the show in 2010. A manga is already in the works, and the story revolves around an American kid named Joey who stumbles upon a toy that turns into a giant robot. Joey, of course, pilots the 'bot in a crusade against evil! It's actually one of three projects Stan Lee has been working on in Jap lasan-- although it's unclear if last this one is still going on. I'd forgotten about it until I was sorting through my giapet.net posts on Lee's project, but at one point he was planning to work with Gonzo parent company GDH on a series called Quartz .  However, with Gonzo's ongoing troubles of late, it seems unlikely that the project is going to happen-- and it's no longer listed on Lee's POW! Entertainment project site .    That is one busy, busy man.
