A powerful grimoire and the nun who can read it have gone missing in Japan, and Touma and Index are "recruited" by Stiyl to help with the search. We can deduce that Maika does not have motion sickness. Summary: A powerful grimoire containing dangerous magic has been stolen in Japan by members of the Amakusa Church, and a nun named Ursula Aquinas, who is the only person capable of reading the grimoire's coded instructions, has also gone missing. Stiyl is dispatched by Necessarius Archbishop Laura Stuart to Japan to search for the nun. At Touma's apartment, Index is chatting with Maika when Stiyl arrives to take her away. Later in the afternoon, Touma returns home from school only to be informed by Maika of what happened. Stiyl left a note with Maika which tells Touma to meet in an abandoned theater outside of Academy City and the exit/entry permit is included. Maybe the sister just didn't feel like walking. It would have been fun if Touma actually knocked Stiyl out at this point. Touma leaves Academy City but has some difficulty finding the theater. On the way, Touma meets a nun who wants to go into Academy City, and the nun ends up following Touma after revealing that someone is trying to kill her. Meanwhile, at the abandoned theater, Stiyl informs Index of the situation, and they are joined by Aniese Sanctis who leads a task force of Roman Catholic battle nuns who have also been sent to deal with the situation. Touma and the nun arrive at the theater soon after. Touma wonders what Stiyl wants, and Stiyl reveals that the nun accompanying Touma is Ursula. Stiyl and Aniese think the job is done, but the Amakusa forces steal Ursula away through an underground tunnel. Stiyl: Fire Magic!!!!.... oh wait, we are in a boring set up episode. Never mind. Who is indecent one here: the guy getting pinned to the ground or the nun wearing ultra high heels and a really short dress? Touma, Index and Stiyl end up joining Aniese's task force who have set up camp at a parking lot. Aniese isn't sure where to begin looking for the Amakusa, but Index informs everyone that the Amakusa have to be at a certain location in four and a half hours due to the magic they use (TJ: too hard to summarize that stuff). Later, Touma stumbles into Aniese and Index taking a bath and is bitten badly by Index. Touma returns to his tent and talks to his tent-mate Stiyl about the situation. Touma knows that Kaori is/was part of the Amakusa Church and asks if Stiyl is okay with continuing the mission, but Stiyl states that he'll do anything to protect Index. In the middle of the night, both Aniese and Index sleep walk their way into Touma's tent, with Aniese sleeping on Touma and Index giving Touma more bites. Touma has a penchant for getting into situations. The scariest thing Touma will ever see. At the Parallel Sweet Park, Amakusa's substitute pontiff Saiji Tatemiya is surveying the cityscape while Ursula lies unconscious at bound nearby. Other Amakusa members arrive to inform Saiji that the spell is ready, and Saiji is determined to show Kaori what the current Amakusa Church is capable of. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One of those dreaded Index episodes where everyone just talks and talks and talks. There were bits of random fan service tossed in to try and liven things up, but it didn't really help. Nuns in high heels and form-fitting dresses are nice, but it's not enough the subdue the exposition. We'll probably have to get through a few of these exposition episodes this season just so the story can be set up. Lets all hope that the action in this series will be worth going through all the magic/pseudo-science talks and hero speeches. Anyways, it looks this arc is about the Necessarius and the Roman Catholic Church joining forces in a fight against the Amakusa Church, and Touma, Index, and potentially Kaori will be caught in the middle. It seems that the Amakusa are set up as the bad guys at this point, but that may change next week. Even after Index's lengthy speech, I'm still not sure what the Amakusa are after, what they are planning to do with their map/geography spell or the situation between them and Kaori. The good news though is that at least we'll see some action next week. From the feed of A Product of Wasted Time
