Clain and Nessa find themselves in a city where the Fractale system still works completely. Clain, you player! Summary: Clain and Nessa take Enri's mini airship out to find fresh water, but suddenly Nessa comes down with a sickness and the airship goes on the fritz, causing the airship to crash. Sometimes later, Clain wakes up and finds himself in the room of Meegan, a doppel in the form of voluptuous woman. Meegan explains to Clain that he is in Xanadu, a city where the Fractale system still works completely and people interact using advanced doppels instead of the crude ones found in other areas. Meanwhile, Enri, Phryne and Enri's surviving bodyguard are looking for Clain and Nessa and they find the airship wrecked at the edge of a lake. Enri and company are approached by Gale, a sculptor who claims to be part of a nomadic community that has embraced nature again. Do I look that much like a girl? Back in Xanadu, Meegan then takes to Clain to her friend Collin's place where Nessa is sleeping. Collin explains that Nessa may have been invaded by a computer virus, and like humans her immune systems is trying fight off the invaders. While Clain is talking with Nessa, Meegan and Collin are discussing about how they'll split the bounty from turning in Nessa and Clain to the temple. Meegan has financial troubles and needs the reward "mone", and she also has plans to get Phryne in order to increase the bounty payout. However, Collin and Meegan's conversation is overheard by Clain. Impending doom. In the nomadic community, Phryne stumbles into Gale's sculpture room and is approached by Gale. It turns out Gale is in control of Meegan, and thus Gale attacks Phryne who initially tries to resist but suddenly falls limp. Fortunately for Phryne, Enri shows up and knocks out Gale. Enri explains that all the people in the community are people who have made fortunes in Xanadu and are living the natural life as some sort of game. The two girls along with Enri's bodyguard then take off on Enri's airship towards Xanadu. Back in the sculpture room, Gale wakes up and connects back to the Fractale network. Another Super Saiyan is born. After learning about Meegan and Collin's plan, Clain grabs Nessa and escapes from Collin's apartment. Clain and Nessa run down the street but are stopped by Meegan/Gale. Meegan/Gale unleashes a virus which makes Clain fall to the ground in pain. Seeing Clain in pain, Nessa unleashes her true powers and takes out the entire Fractale system in Xanadu, frying Gale/Meegan in the process. Suddenly, one of Collin's robots appear and Nessa is unable to take it out as the robot runs on a standalone system. Collin (whose real body is unable to move) states that he only has freedom under the Fractale System and will not allow anyone to destroy it, and Collin's robot takes out a gun and shoots Clain. Enri and Phryne arrive and runs to check on Clain, but at the same time the temple's forces led by Barrot also arrives. One of the advantages of being a doppel is people can't shoot you with a conventional gun. Unfortunately Clain is not a doppel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It looked like Clain and Nessa were on some random adventure for most of the episode, but we finally get a heading during the flurry of activity near the end. Long referred to as the key to the world, Nessa showed a bit of her true power by knocking out the Fractale system in Xanadu. The nature of Nessa's powers is still a mystery, but at least we know one reason why she is such an important piece of struggle. I was a little surprised that her powers didn't work on Collin's robot since Nessa has shown she can cause any electronic (not just things connected to Fractale) to go on the fritz, but maybe Collin's bot has a lot of electromagnetic shielding or something. I'm not sure what Collin is trying to accomplish by shooting Clain, but perhaps he is just angry that Nessa took out the city that he relies on. Also, Clain getting shot adds to the cliffhanger ending, and Clain will probably end up in the temple ship just because he needs the medical attention. Xanadu was a pretty interesting place that showed some of the good and bad about the Fractale system. A stark contrast to the mostly rural areas from the previous episodes, Xanadu is certainly a very vibrant city with a lot of advanced and convenient features, but it's really a city built for doppels. For Clain, Xanadu is a feast for the eyes, but it's also "fake" because most things in the city aren't touchable. As for the inhabitants, we only meet Collin and Gale/Meegan, both of which are not exactly model citizens. Gale using Meegan as his doppel was kind of creepy and is reminiscent of unscrupulous people these days posing online to lure victims. It was bad when Meegan made Clain dress up as a girl and tried to put a move on Collin, and even worse when Gale attack Phryne. I wonder what happened to Phryne when she was attacked. What was the evil image that she saw that caused her to go limp? I guess it's just one more question in Fractale that needs an answer. From the feed of A Product of Wasted Time
