Been awhile hasn’t it? Today I’m quite excited to share this particular Kickstater that promises to bring back some spark to the genre of classic JRPGs. Well, where to start… I was browsing my mail one fine morning when a Kickstarter update caught my eye. I’ve funded a good number of projects (with the hope they deliver…) and have burned myself out monetarily as a result. This did not however prevent me from squeezing myself further (whhhhhyyyy???) and doling out for projects like A Hat in Time and Armikrog…. and this: Soul Saga! A J-RPG inspired by Playstation classics. Watched the video? No? Stop reading immediately and go watch it! Done? Not a bad way to spend 5 minutes now isn’t it? From the awesome J-Rock intro (composed by Terry Chandler) showcasing a bright and colourful world and some cute battle animation to the entertaining dialogue between the game’s 2 main characters: Mithos and Elise; this Kickstarter project has got quite a bit going for it. Admittedly, I would have loved to see some gameplay in the video. Personally, Shovel Knight has the best Kickstater video I’ve seen since I’ve started Kickstarting… but Soul Saga definitely is a close second. After all, the throwback to JRPG classics of the past the first half of the video delivers brought a tear to my eye when I first viewed the trailer.
