Wow, what an episode. Remember last week how I complained about unanswered questions? Well, this week they've answered them all and of course introduced new ones.First we learn what exactly happened a year ago.In the final confrontation Suzaku overpowered Lelouch and then brought him before Emperor. That's an amazing scene. Suzaku drags him like a wild animal and holds him to the ground, while Emperor using his own Geass rewrites Lelouch's memory. The terror Lulu shows when the last of what he cared about (Nunnaly and memories of his mother) is taken away from him is almost painful to watch. And Suzaku...he's turning into a grade A villain. It's ironic, because in the first season he was THE good guy, sure, he was naive and could be annoying, but still. Here he's a cold bastard and after what he did to Lelouch I hate that him as as much, if not more as the Emperor (great job Sunrise, you've handled it very well). Especially since he still clings to the illusion that he can "change the Empire from within" or rather it seems like he's lying to himself that's the reason why he's doing all those things. Those scenes really humanized Lelouch, so when later we see him once again taking command as Zero and wiping out Britain forces(and collapsing the whole building on them, it seems there's no quicker way to die than to become Area 11's governor ^_^) it feels like he's delivering a divine retribution and is just so satisfying to watch. Not to mention it once again mirrors the scenes from the first season. We also were treated to some great Kallen scenes when she confronts Lelouch, afraid that her dedication to him is just something he forced upon her with Geass. Of course Lulu knows which of her buttons to push ^_^. And the scene when he offered his jacket to let Kallen cover her embarrassing suit was pretty touching. While episode 1 market the return of real Lelouch, episode 2 is the return of Zero. He always was de facto a separate character, not just Lulu with a mask. And I must admit I was giggling like a little girl when he broadcast his return to the whole Japan. It was truly epic and Diethard's jumping around happy that Zero is alive was just so hilarious! ^_^They even revealed a lot about Rollo. He indeed is a fake brother, he was the one piloting the new Lancelot-like knightmare, he has a Geass of his own and he wants to kill Zero. Talk about revelations! His Knightmare could do an almost teleportation-like instant movements, if I would have to guess I would bet on it being the power of his Geass instead of new knightmare technology.Heck, they even managed to pack in a scene that expands the mythological side of the series. To sum up: amazing episode. One of Geass' best yet. It had everything: action, plotting, Zero's theatrics, lots of twist and turns and great characters scenes. In a way Sunrise is in exceptionally privileged position. They can do an episode like this early in the season. While all the new shows are still struggle to build their foundations, Sunrise already has all the pieces set up. This was the kind of episode that we usually see near the end of the series.I've watched this episode right before going to bed and because of that I had troubles falling asleep from all the excitement, this should give you an impression of just how damn good this episode was. If that's how Sunrise will handle the second season then it will be awfully painful to wait a whole week for new episode.rating: 9.2/10She doesn't look too happy about Zero's return, I guess that happens when you kill yuri girl's mastrubation material ^_^
