Accelerator runs into the 20,001th Misaka clone called Last Order.Summary:Late at night, Accelerator is buying some canned coffee from a convenience store. Upon leaving the store, Accelerator is immediately attacked by a gang of thugs, but the level 5 esper defeats his attackers without raising a finger. Ever since his defeat at Touma's hands, Accelerator has been targeted by thugs even though he hasn't gotten any weaker. Accelerator knows something has changed, but can't really determine what. Accelerator passes by an apartment where a couple is arguing (it's actually Index attacking Touma at the beginning of the last episode) so he uses ability to shut out all external noise.I didn't know Touma dyed his hair blond and joined a gang (rightmost person).Little blue riding hood following the big bad wolf.Accelerator: Sorry, I'm not into the loli-types.Accelerator continues walking while blocking out all external noise, and because of this he doesn't notice a short figure in a ragged sheet following him. The short figure turns out to be a young girl, and she has to get really close to Accelerator to get his attention. After turning off noise blocking, Accelerator notice that the young girl refers to herself as "Misaka", so he demands that the girl take off her "cloak" and let him see her face. The girl is reluctant to take off the sheet, and so Accelerator yanks the it of her and discovers that the girl does resemble Misaka and is also wearing nothing underneath. After the girl covers herself up again, she reveals that she is the 20,001th and last Misaka Clone, and therefore she's given the name Last Order. Last Order explains that she was originally set to participate in the experiment, but after the experiment was canceled she was kicked out of the lab and therefore she's not fully developed yet. Accelerator wonders what does this have to do with him, and Last Order explains that she wants Accelerator to help her establish contact with the researchers. Accelerator tells Last Order to go find someone else, but Last Order states that she has no one else to go to.What's Last Order getting so excited about? Didn't Accelerator just say "no"?Last Order: Wow, that's some uh... unique interior decor you have there.Last Order follows Accelerator back to his apartment and they discover that his apartment has been trashed by thugs. Accelerator doesn't really care and starts sleeping on the couch, and he also allows Last Order to sleep in his bed. Accelerator wakes up the next day and sees Last Order standing over him. Last Order informs Accelerator that it's already noon and she's hungry, so Accelerator takes her to a nearby restaurant. Before she orders food, Last Order asks Accelerator about his hair color and Accelerator explains that he lacks pigments because his ability automatically blocks out UV rays. As Last Order looks at the menu, Accelerator spots researcher Ao Amai in the parking lot. Ao spots Accelerator in return and immediately speeds out of the parking lot, leaving Accelerator to wonder what the researcher is doing in this area.Ao: Oh crap, it's that crazy kid that I forgot to pay during the experiment. Time to run!Last Order: Arghhh... I think I need to visit the little girl's room. After the food is served, Last Order becomes excited because this is the first time she is eating a cooked meal. After taking a few bites, Last Order starts talking with Accelerator and Accelerator wonders how Last Order can act so friendly even though she knows that he killed over 10,000 Misaka clones. Last Order states that it's true that she has felt the death of 10,000 clones through the Misaka network, but if it wasn't for Accelerator then there would be no need for the Misaka Imoutos, and therefore Last Order thanks Accelerator for giving her an opportunity to exist. Last Order also informs Accelerator that someone (Touma) has told her and her fellow clones that their lives do matter, so she is not going to throw her life away nor will she allow her comrades to die. Accelerator tries to act evil and states that he enjoyed slaughtering the Misaka Imoutos, but Last Order states that he is lying. The 20,001th Misaka clone goes into pscyho-analysis and eventually concludes that Accelerator said all the nasty things in front of the Misaka clones in hopes that the clones will give up. Last Order then asks Accelerator what he would have done if one of the Misaka clones stated that she doesn't want to fight anymore, but Accelerator has had enough of Last Order's pscyho-analysis and decides to walk away. As Accelerator is walking away, Last Order suddenly falls face first onto the table. Accelerator goes to check on Last Order, and Last Order explains in a weak voice that her body isn't quite ready to live in the outside world yet, but she's going to be alright in a while. Seeing that Last Order isn't really in any immediate danger, Accelerator takes care of the bill and leaves the restaurant.A stack of paper with some weirdo's photo on it, or a nice data disk and a phone. Should be an easy choice no?Accelerator wanders his way into the old research institute where the "Level 6 Shift" project was run from. Inside the building Accelerator meets up with Kikyou Yoshikawa, a researcher who spends most of time sifting through the data in the facility. Accelerator asks Kikyou on data for the Misaka Imoutos, and Kikyou is surprised that Accelerator knows about the "virus" implanted in the personality of Misaka clones. Accelerator isn't sure what Kikyou is talking about but wants an explanation anyways, and so Kikyou starts revealing the details about Last Order. Kikyou explains that Last Order is a special Misaka clone that was created as the administrator of the Misaka network, and therefore she was kept in a younger state. After the "Level 6 Shift" experiment was canceled, Last Order was stored inside this facility but somebody had implanted the viral procedure into her mind. In order to protect her personality from further damage, Last Order escaped from this facility seven days ago. Kikyou has analyzed the virus and determined that it is set to go off tonight (Sept 1st) at midnight. At that time, the virus will use the Misaka Network to propagate to all the other Misaka clones, and the virus will probably make the Misaka Imoutos attack people indiscriminately. Kikyou tells Accelerator that the culprit behind the plan is probably Ao Amai because there's no one who knows more about the Misaka clones than him. Accelerator asks Kikyou about how to stop the virus, and Kikyou states that she hasn't found a solution yet. If you can't find a solution by midnight then Last Order must be killed before the virus can activate. Kikyou explains that there is two things Accelerator can help her with right now. Option no.1 is to capture Ao Amai and force him to deactivate the virus. Option 2 is to protect Last Order until midnight and bring her back to the lab's life support chamber. Kikyou asks Accelerator to pick one of the choices and Accelerator chooses option 2. After getting the data from Kikyou, Accelerator runs out of the research facility and tries to locate Last Order. Why are you running? Just use your ability and fly along the streets. It might damage the sidewalk a little but it's okay since you are in a hurry.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Compared to the entertaining Touma x Mikoto date episode last week, this week's episode is really boring. There was a lot of talking but little in terms of comedy or action. Last Order is undeniably a cutie, but unfortunately she is also one of those annoying characters who doesn't know how to shut up. On the other hand, Accelerator doesn't seem to have much of a personality, and therefore all of my expectations of some hilarious odd couple moments were foiled. I know this is a setup episode to build up for the events of next week, but seeing Last Order blab for two-thirds of the episode and then Kikyou blabbing the rest wasn't terribly exciting. The plot of this story-arc sounds somewhat interesting, although since the virus is planted inside Last Order's mind I'm not expecting much in terms of action. It's not like Ao will try to fight Accelerator directly anyways. Ao is obviously up to no good and hopefully we'll find out his reasoning next week. Moving on from the villain, that other interesting (and perhaps more important) part of the story is the relationship between Accelerator and Last Order. I find it curious that Accelerator took a liking to Last Order rather quickly. Last Order is cute, but she's also kind of annoying given how wordy she is. Perhaps Accelerator is feeling guilty about killing all the Imoutos as Last Order has speculated and maybe he has even fallen in love with the Misaka clones? On the other hand, Accelerator might just be bored since fighting thugs isn't all that fun when he can beat them while sleeping (thanks to his always-on redirection ability). The last possibility is that Last Order might be the first person in a long time to talk to Accelerator in a genuinely friendly manner. Before talking to Last Order, Accelerator probably only talked to challengers who wants to beat him up and researchers who only have a scientific interest in him. Whatever the case, Accelerator seems bent on saving Last Order now, and I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of heroics he is capable of.Last note: why did Last Order lie about her origins when she was talking to Accelerator? To recap, Last Order said that she was kicked out of the lab while Kikyou said that Last Order escaped on her own. Their statements obviously contradict, and I think Kikyou is the one telling the truth. Maybe I misunderstood something in the dialogue, but I'm pretty sure what Last Order and Kikyou said are different.
