精霊の守り人 (Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit) is the first book in the Moribito fantasy novel series written by UEHASHI Nahoko, and two of the books have been translated by Cathy Hirano and published by Scholastic. The book is set in a fantasy world inspired by Japan in the Middle Ages, and involves magic, legends, and a female bodyguard named Balsa.
