The big battle ain't over yet.Talk about heart burn.Summary:After ordering all of the pirates to retreat, Whitebeard has his mind set on destroying Marine HQ and unleashes a multitude of earthquake attacks. The pirates are reluctant to abandon Whitebeard, but they slowly begin to retreat. Meanwhile, Buggy's group has fixed the video Den-den Mushi and starts feeding video of the battle back to Shabondy Archipelago. Ace takes a bow at Whitebeard before walking away with Luffy, but Akainu catches up to the brothers. Akainu starts insulting Whitebeard in front of Ace, saying that Whitebeard has always been a failure. Despite his comrades telling him to run, Ace gets ticked off and attacks Akainu only to be sent sprawling by Akainu's lava power. Luffy tries to help but his body gives out, and Ace's lifeline paper (or whatever it is called) falls out of Luffy's pockets. Sensing the opportunity, Akainu moves in to finish Luffy with a lava punch, but Ace gets in the way in the last second and is punched through his midsection. On the ground, Ace's lifeline paper disintegrates into dust.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Holy moly... Wow, just when it looked like Ace and Luffy might be able to escape, Akainu comes out of nowhere and inflicts a mortal wound on Ace. Truth be told, the pirates were far from home free even if they manage to get on their ships, but still Ace getting wounded so badly was shocking. Looks like Ace is not going to make it. His lifeline paper didn't completely burn away at the end of the chapter, but most of it was gone and that hit from Akainu looked pretty bad. From the beginning of this battle I was wondering if Ace is going to survive. If all the rumours about a time skip are true, then more likely than not Ace is not going to live through this. Definitely looking forward to how Luffy and the rest of the pirates will react in the next chapter. Luffy is definitely going to live, but things are once again looking down for the other characters.
